Chris Cornell, RIP. 1964 – 2017.

I was sad to hear the news two nights ago that the man of a thousand bands Chris Cornell passed away, and even sadder that the fifty-two year-old’s death has since been tentatively ruled a suicide.  I was a pretty big Soundgarden fan—though more or less through radio hits—and they were definitely a kick-ass band and staple during the grunge era.  Cornell in particular too, had a classic voice, could play his ass off on guitar, and was a superior lyricist, especially for his genre.  In short, you had to respect the man.  Like I said I’m no expert, so i don’t go that far diggin’ into the crates with Cornell, but here’s my personal favorites in his rather stellar catalog:

1.  Pretty Noose – Soundgarden

2.  Redemption Song (Bob Marley cover) – Solo

3.  Blow Up The Outside World – Soundgarden

4.  Black Hole Sun – Soundgarden

5.  Hunger Strike – Temple of the Dog

6.  Burden In My Hand – Soundgarden

7.  Spoonman – Soundgarden

8.  Like A Stone – Audioslave

9.  Black Days – Soundgarden

10. Outshined – Soundgarden

If you’re unfamiliar with any of these songs, or Cornell’s music in general, I’d say it’s high time to put your ears in check.  The man damn-near worked himself to death for your audio enjoyment.  The least you could do is appreciate it.
